1. Pastor’s thoughts

As I was preparing to leave for the office today, I just couldn’t resist it:  My wife was sitting in her chair and I said, “Honey, don’t move!  There is one of those lizards on the back of your chair.  I’ll get it, just don’t move!”  Well, of course, she bolted!  She turned around and saw my smile and as she heard the words, “April Fool,” she was not pleased with me, but eventually smiled at me and said, “You…...”  And I said, “Sorry honey, but I just couldn’t resist!  April fool’s day is what we have labeled April 1st.  Americans who have computers were a bit concerned with the Conficker worm that was to come out of hiding on April 1st.  The computer wizards said, “Lots of computer worms disable antivirus software outright, which can be a tip-off that something is wrongBut Conficker doesn't do that. Instead, Conficker blocks infected PCs from accessing the antivirus vendors' and Microsoft's Web sites, so victims won't get automatic updates and can't download the Conficker removal tools that those companies have developed.”  Well, if you are like me, I made sure my antivirus was up to date and ran several scans and protected myself to the best of my ability.  I also warned some of my friends of this potential problem, as I didn’t want their computers to get infected.  Well, today, it appears that I am saved from the danger of that worm.  That leaves me with a good feeling.  But as I thought that one through, it gives me an even greater feeling to know that I have been saved from the worm called “sin.”  What hellacious damage that can do to our souls.  We all know so many who really are not protected against this “worm.”  Jesus left a commandment to His followers: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matt. 28:19-20).  I find it so amazing that we warn our family and friends about a potential computer virus or worm but fail to warn them of a place John the Revelator describes as a place where “the devil…was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown.  They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever” (Rev. 20:10).  Let’s make a commitment that we will do our very best to warn our family and friends of this terrible place.  I don’t want to see anyone miss heaven!  Do you?

2. Laugh a little:

Watching the new employee count out his day’s receipts, the boss walked over and asked the man where he got his financial training.  “Yale,” he answered.  “Good.  And what is your name?”  “Yackson.”

-----

A new barber nicked a customer badly in giving him a shave.  Hoping to restore the man’s feeling of well-being, he asked solicitously, “Do you want your head wrapped in a hot towel?”  “No thanks,” said the customer, “I’ll carry it home under my arm.”

-----

A bald man took a seat in a beauty shop.  “How can I help you?’ asked the stylist.  “I went for a hair transplant,” the guy explained.  “But, I couldn’t stand the pain.  If you can make my hair look like yours without causing me any discomfort, I’ll pay you $5,000.”  “No problem,” said the stylist.  And she quickly shaved her head.

3. Thought for the month:

Consider the postage stamp; its usefulness consists in the ability to stick to one thing until it gets there.  - Josh Billings

4. Helpful websites:

Here is an excellent website that has a lot to say about many subjects. Life Tips continues to be “the place to go when you need to know” for millions of readers.

6. Rose Hill News:

The next two Sundays (April 5 and 12th) have been put together to emphasize the events leading up to Easter Story to the very best of our ability!  You won’t want to miss these two Sundays.  Do your best to invite your un-churched family and friends.

Don’t forget that April is Holiness Today subscription month.  The price is still $12 a year.  See the Pastor for further details

This coming Sunday at 8:30 A.M. the Sunday School will host our monthly breakfast.  Please plan on joining us for a wonderful breakfast and time of fellowship.

We are making many changes in our small groups.  Faith’s small group will be meeting on Monday nights at the parsonage starting on April 20th at 6:30P.M.  Sharon Gray will be starting another small group on Sundays at 5:00 P.M. called “Beginning Conversational Spanish.” She has had an overwhelming response.  The class has 12 enrolled (many from outside our church) and has reached and exceeded the goal of 10.  So enrollment is now closed in this small group.

In May, we will be starting a brand new small group at the Bratton’s home.  Further information will be forthcoming.  We will still have a small group meeting on Sundays at the church at 5:00 P.M.  If you would be interested in hosting a small group in your home, please let the Pastor know.

We will also be temporarily changing our Sunday School from 9:00 A.M. to 9:45 A.M. and morning worship from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45 on May 3rd to see if we might be able to attract some younger families with the later time.

Prime Timer’s will have their potluck lunch April 16th at noon.

Men’s Prayer Breakfast will be April 18th at 8:00 A.M.

Ladies’ Bible Study meets every Tuesday at 10:00 A.M.

Rose Hill birthday’s include: Clara Herndon & Nola Moreland (4th), Gracen McDonald (20th), Nancy Siegler (22nd), Bob Means (26th) and Jon Emison (27th).

Anniversaries include: Ken & Lynda Davis (3rd), Howard & Sue Ann Stephens (17th) and Ron & Belinda Carter (27th).
