1. Pastor’s thoughts:

Well, as you may have noticed, this is coming to you early.  Hopefully, I will not have missed any current events.

Do you ever have dreams?  I probably have more than my share.  I have had some wonderful dreams that are delightful, but I’ve also had some bad dreams.  What is a dream?  Well, the dictionary says that a dream is: a succession of images, thoughts, or emotions passing through the mind during sleep.  Many Biblical characters had dreams; such as: Jacob, the King of Egypt, David, Nebuchadnezzar, and Daniel, to name just a few.  Some of their dreams were good and some were extremely bad.  What do the specialists have to say about why people have dreams?  Let me share some research I was working on: Different people have given different reasons about dreaming but the question is still unanswerable. Psychoanalysts tell the cause of dreams as the suppressed desires of the dreamer. Some see it as the result of subconscious thoughts and desires. We remember a few of our dreams having a powerful or intense impact on us and forget others-- why? That’s also unknown. Let’s review simply different theories and thoughts about dreaming.

Physiological theories explain that dreaming occurs as the active and awake brain stops working and dreams replace the function of transmitting and receiving messages that seizes while sleep.

Psychological theories put stress on the thoughts and emotions in our daily life of high concerns as the cause of dreaming.

Freud’s theory -Freud said that our dreams were based on the activities that we do all day long which are combined with our wishes.

Carl Jung theory-He explained the dreams as a result of personal experience also associated with collective conscious. He was the one who said that the dreamer could interpret the dreams by forming combined image of all the dreams and finding the common element among them.

Alfred Adler theory-Adler explains dreams as a problem solving device which are correlated with the problems in our daily life to get control over our lives and believed in the interpretation of dreams to better understand and solve the problem.

Is your head swimming yet?  Over the years, I have had many dreams about going to heaven, but thankfully, not a one on going to hell.  I am so thankful that a day came when I surrendered my life to Jesus and accepted Him as my personal Savior.  I know where I will spend eternity!  Praise the Lord!

On Friend Day I shared with you that I joined Face Book.  On this program, I have met many 2nd and 3rd cousins that I have never even heard of, let alone met.  What do they have in common with me?  Their last name is “Comeans.”  One young lady, a 3rd cousin, asked me if I was a pastor.  She said from your profile it appears that you are.  She then opened up with some problems she was going through.  And then she asked me to pray for her.  While I’ve only talked to these relatives online, and have never met them, God has placed a burden on my heart for these relatives who don’t know Jesus.  You know folks, we are living in such a fast paced world that we don’t seem to have the time to even think of these people, let alone be concerned about those who are lost and heading for hell.  My prayer is that God will send me dreams of the faces He has put in my life that need to know His Son, whether it is relatives or not.  Who do you know that doesn’t have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ?

2. Laugh a little:

Long, long ago an old Indian chief was about to die, so he called for Geronimo and Falling Rocks, the two bravest warriors in his tribe.  The chief instructed each to go out and collect buffalo skins.  Whoever returned with the most skins would be the new chief.  About a month later, Geronimo came back with one hundred pelts, but Falling Rocks never returned.  Even today as you drive through the West you can see this saying: Watch out for Falling Rocks.

Dr. Tom Walters, a highly successful minister renowned for his preaching, was admonishing a class of seminary students on the importance of making the facial expressions harmonize with the speech in delivering sermons.  “When you speak of heaven,” he said, “let your face shine with reflected glory.  And when you speak of hell,” he continued, staring intently at his audience, turning his head from side to side in order to make eye contact with each one, “well, then your everyday face will do.”

Great truths about life adults have learned:

*Raising teens is like trying to nail Jell-O to a tree

*Every 7 minutes of every day, someone in an aerobics class pulls a hamstring

*Families are like fudge: mostly sweet, with a few nuts

*If you can remain calm, you don’t have all the facts

*Eat a live toad first thing in the morning, and nothing worse can happen to you the rest of the day.

*There’s always a lot to be thankful for if you take time to look for it.  For example, think how nice it is that wrinkles don’t hurt

3. Thought for the month:

Ability is what you're capable of doing.

Motivation determines
what you do.
Attitude determines
how well you do it.
