1. Pastor’s thoughts:
Wow! It is so hard to believe that 2008 is gone and the new year is before us. When we come to January 1st we always think of New Year’s resolutions. I imagine you have thought to yourself, “Starting in January I am going to get in shape; or get my bills paid down; or start eating better, etc. “ May I suggest a few resolutions that I believe will make your life better for your consideration? Here they are: 1. I am going to do my best to attend church services much better than last year. 2. I am going to read and study my Bible this year. 3. I am going to improve my prayer life. 4. I am going to start tithing and keep up-to-date! In the Church of the Nazarene, most of us believe that we are living in the last days. Friends, I sure don’t want to miss heaven and I realize that I have an enemy who hates God and me and will do anything in his power to cause me to miss heaven. Peter tells us to “Be sober, be vigilant because your adversary, the devil, as a roaring lion walketh about seeking whom he may devour” (I Peter 5:8 KJV). If you and I will do our best to make and keep the above 4 New Year’s Resolutions, we will be following Peter’s advice. Jesus is coming soon and I am ready! Are you?
2. Laugh a little:
A wife said, “My husband bought me a mood ring the other day. When I’m in a good mood, it turns green. When I’m in a bad mood, it leaves a red mark on his forehead.”
Right in the middle of the church service, little Bobby whispered to his mother that he felt sick and thought he was going to throw up. His mother told him to quickly go to the back of the church and then go to the boy’s room. Moments later little Bobby returned and was wiping his mouth with his hand. His mother was concerned that he was not gone long enough to get to the boy’s room. She asked her son, “How did you do that so quickly?” Bobby explained, “When I got to the back of the church, I saw a box with a sign on it that was there for me.” Mom continued, “What do you mean? What did the sign say?” Bobby answered, “The sign said, FOR THE SICK.”
3. Thought for the Month:
"Motivation is everything. You can do the work of two people, but you can't be two people. Instead, you have to inspire the next guy down the line and get him to inspire his people. " – Lee Iacocca

What a blessing they were! I trust that you had a wonderful Christmas season and my prayer is that each of you will have a wonderful Happy New Year.
