1. Pastor’s Thoughts

March is upon us.  Unlike my wife, I am all in favor of summer weather.  I tell her everywhere we go is air conditioned, so you can stay cool.  Of course, her argument is when it is cold she can dress in layers.  This present weather has been enjoyable to me.  I am not blessed with the thoughts of tornadic and severe thunderstorm weather though, but that is part of summer.  My friend, Dayna Martin, shared this on Facebook, Well, I believe God showed mercy on us last night...no tornadoes. Guess a 4.7 quake and a 3.8 aftershock was good enough!!  Now I must admit that I am not in favor of earthquakes either!  Especially an earthquake as close as Greenbrier, Arkansas

I have thought much about the unusual weather patterns we are seeing happening world-wide, and the major unrest in the Middle East and Africa.  Then last week, we see all the protests starting to take place in the USA.  Jesus said in Matthew 24:6 ff, “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed.  Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.  There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.  Verse 10 states, “At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.  Because of the increase in of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold; but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.  And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”  Paul tells us in I Timothy 4:1 “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.”  And read what the Apostle Paul said in II Timothy3:1-9 and II Timothy 4:3-5.  All of these things are peculiar only to our generation!  If ever there was a day God needs Nazarenes and other Christian churches to fulfill the Great Commission (Matt. 28:19-20) it is today.

Do you have an unsaved loved one, a neighbor, someone you work with or go to school with who is not a Christian?  Why not make it a “must” to invite them to your church this coming Sunday.  Be sure and take this person’s name to God in prayer.  Ask Him to give you wisdom on how to best contact this person.

2. Something to think about

"If you were going to die soon and had only one phone call you could make, who would you call and what would you say? And why are you waiting?"

Stephen Levine

3. A time to smile

A mom was concerned about her kindergarten son walking to school.  He didn't want her to walk with him, and she wanted to give him a feeling of independence, but she also wanted to know that he was safe.
When she expressed her concern to her neighbor, Shirley offered to follow him to school every morning for a while, staying at a distance so he wouldn’t notice. Shirley said that since she was up early with her toddler anyway, it will be a good way for them to get some exercise.
All week long, Shirley and her daughter followed Timmy as he walked to school with another neighborhood girl.
As the two children walked and chatted, kicking stones and twigs, Timmy's friend said,
”Have you noticed that lady following us to school all week? Do you know her? ”Timmy replied, Yes, I know who she is. That's my mom's friendShirley Goodnest and her little girl Marcy'.
Shirley Goodnest? Why is she following us? Well, Timmy explained, every night my mom makes me say the 23rd Psalm, it says, Shirley Goodnest and Marcy shall follow me all days of my life. I guess I'll just have to get used to it.

One minister says that it doesn't bother him at all if his members look at their watches during his sermons. It does affect him, however, when someone not only looks at his watch, but also holds it up to his ear to see if it's still running

The Chief Rabbi and the Pope are in a meeting in Rome. The Rabbi notices a fancy- shmancy phone on a side table in the Pope's private chambers. "What's that phone for?" he asks. "It's my direct line to the Lord!" the Pope replies. The Rabbi is doubtful, but the Pope insists that he tries it out and, indeed, he is connected to the Lord and chats away with Him for a while.
After he hangs up the Rabbi says. "Thank you very much. This is great! But listen, I want to pay for the charges I have used up." The Pope doesn't want to take the money, but finally gives in, checks the counter and says:”
All right! The charge was 50,000 Lira,” which the Rabbi gladly pays. A couple of weeks later, the Pope is in Jerusalem on an official visit. In the Rabbi's chambers he sees the identical phone he has with a direct line to the Lord. The Pope asks if he could use it, because there were some urgent matters he needed to consult with Him. The Rabbi gladly hands him the phone and the Pope chats away. After he hangs up, he says: "Now I also want to pay for my charges on your phone." The Rabbi looks on the counter and says: "1 Shekel 50!" The Pope looks surprised: "Why so cheap!" The Rabbi smiles: "Local call."

An old rabbi is talking with one of his friends and says with a warm smile, "I gladdened seven hearts today."
"Seven hearts?" asks the friend. "How did you do that?"
The rabbi strokes his beard and replies, "I performed three marriages."
The friend looks at him quizzically.
"Seven?" he asks. "I could understand six, but..."
"What do you think" says the rabbi, "that I do this for free?"
