1. Pastor’s thoughts

I had one of “those” thoughts today:  “What would I do differently from what I have been doing if I knew that the Lord was coming this year?”  It really didn’t take too long to come up with this list:

1. I would stop worrying about things or people that I cannot change.

2. I would concentrate on spending more time in personal devotions

a.         When we are preparing to go visit my parents they ask me constantly, “Now when are you coming?’

b.         I would be asking my Savior, “Now when is it that you are coming again?”

            c.         Wouldn’t it be great to hear Him say, “I’m coming on…?”

            d.         In Rev. 22:20b He says, “Yes I am coming soon!

            e.         Are you getting excited yet?

3. I would concentrate on telling more people that Jesus is coming – this year!

4. I would share this good news with

a.         First my immediate family

b.         My church family (and do my best to get them prepared and ready to go)

c.         My Christian friends (and do my best to get them prepared and ready to share with their family and friends and get them ready to go)

d.         Unsaved friends and family members

e.         The unsaved

I honestly believe I would do the above.  But then a thought hit me:  “How do you know that I am not coming in 2010?”  Steve, you need to be doing these things NOW!  Because I might come this year and there are so many who are not ready for My coming! “

What would you do differently from what you have been doing if you knew the Lord was coming this year?

a.                   Would you get closer to the Lord?

b.                  Would you show more love to your spouse and children?

c.                   Would you be more faithful to your church?

d.                  Jesus said, “So stay awake and be prepared, because you do not know the day or hour of my return” (Matt. 25:13 NLT)

2. Laugh a little:

My friend Myron tells me, “Last year on Mother’s Day the whole family got together for a dinner, and afterward, when Mom started to clean up, I said to her, “Don’t bother with those dishes, Mom.  Today is Mother’s Day.  You can always do them tomorrow.”

Joey Adams

A doctor came into a hospital room and told the patient’s husband to wait outside while he examined his wife.  A few minutes later the doctor came out and asked a nurse’s aid if she could get him a pair of pliers.  She did, and he went back into the patient’s room.  Five minutes later he came out and asked for a screwdriver.  When he came out a third time and asked for a hammer, the anxious husband demanded to know what was wrong with his wife.  “I don’t know yet,” the doctor said.  “I can’t get my bag open.”

A woman called the Canon help desk with a problem with her printer.  The tech asked her if she was “running it under Windows.”  The woman then responded, “No, my desk is next to the door.  But that is a good point.  The man sitting in the cubicle next to me is under a window and his is working fine.’

3. Thought for the month:

What happens is not as important
as how you  react  to what happens.

 4. Helpful websites:

Ever wonder how some people seem to have just the right software tools and utilities that they need at the right time?  I have been a subscriber to File Hippo for a couple of years and they offer a lot of good, free and safe software.  Check them out at: http://www.filehippo.com/

Before you download and use, make sure you understand what the particular software will do!

 6. Rose Hill news:

Lots of exciting things are coming in the month of May.  May 9th is Mother’s Day.  We will be drawing for restaurant gift certificates that day and we will also be graced by a Ladies’ Choir.  We want all of our ladies to participate.  In June we will have a men’s choir.

Please note that there will be no Sunday School breakfast on May 2nd.

Prime Timer’s will meet at noon on the first and third Thursdays for a potluck lunch.  If you are 55 or over, you qualify to come.  They have a wonderful time. Bring your favorite dish of food and come be a part of this wonderful group.

The Tribe of faith small group will not meet this coming Monday (May 3rd) but will meet the rest of the Mondays in the month at 6:30P.M.  Come and be a part.  The small group at the Bratton’s meets on Thursdays at 7:00 P.M.

Men’s Prayer Breakfast meets at the church the third Saturday of the month at 8:00 A.M.

The Sunday School is sponsoring “Family Fun Night” on Friday, May 15th at 7:00 P.M.  Bring table games and your favorite snacks and drinks for a good time of fun, food and fellowship with your church family.

The ladies are taking a shopping trip to Memphis, TN on Saturday, May 22nd leaving the church at 7:30 A.M.  See Pat Means for further information.
